What Is It?
The Sonoma Diet is a unique international diet that focuses on celebrating meals and enjoying great foods. Inspired by the Mediterranean diet, this weight loss plan emphasizes foods that are good for your health, boost your energy, and improve your overall lifestyle.

With the Sonoma Diet, you eat fresh and delicious everday foods. No prepackaged foods and no small bars or shakes to consume. You eat delicious food and integrate your favorite bottle of wine to lose weight.

Here are the 3 phases of the Sonoma Diet:
Phase I - eliminate foods that are high in sugar; no processed flours; avoid unhealthy foods such as fried foods and high fat meals.
Phase II - focus on health and satisfying meals based on the guidance of the Sonoma Diet. You will stay on Phase II until you reach your weight loss goal. Healthy, tasty food and wine is promoted during this phase.
Phase III - this is the maintenance phase of the Sonoma Diet. Here you continue to eat meals approved by the Sonoma Diet while boosting your overall vegetable and lean meats intake.

Types Of Food
The Sonoma Diet believes in enjoying food and not avoiding it. Sample foods from the Sonoma Diet include whole grain cereal, wild rice salad with chicken, pork chops with Rosemary, proscuitto, apple-blueberry tart, and more. And, of course, you get an optional glass of Cabernet, Merlot, or Syrah to go with your dinner.

Exercise
Being active and exercising is always good for your health. While not a main part of the program, simple exercises such as walking or light jogging will help.

» A fine wine guide
» Dietician support
» Interactive tools including a Meal Planner, Shopping List, Weight Tracker, and Food Diary.
» Sonoma Diet pals via message boards, forums, and access to other Sonoma dieters as well as nutritional advice from a registered dietician.

Pros
» 24/7 access online. You get a whole lot of features (as stated above) and the support system for people looking to lose weight is great. Comparably priced to other lifestyle based diets. Emphasis on quality foods rather than restricting foods is also a positive for many people.

Cons
» Lack of accountability. Comes down to self-discipline since the diet is online.

Conclusion
While the diet can lead to quick, short-term weight loss it’s really geared more towards people who want to make long-lasting, long-term changes to their health. The Sonoma diet really is a change in lifestyle where you control portions but eat what you want and enjoy your meals rather than gulfing down double portions during dinner time. Many past Sonoma Diet clients recommend the diet and believe that it has led to a healthier, happier life.

Since the diet is online, the Sonoma Diet may not be for people who lack discipline since there is no monitoring involved. For this reason, falling off the diet is relatively easy. If you feel like you need prepackaged diet meals or some sort of accountability, we recommend checking out Nutrisystem, Medifast, or Weight Watchers.

You know what I really like about the Sonoma diet. It is more than just one of those quick weight loss fads or superhyped diet that doesn’t work. This diet plan is something you can do for years and years and will really lead to a healthier life. Not something that you do real quick and lose weight and then end up gaining it back. If you adapt these weight loss principles, you can use what you learn from the Sonoma diet for a really long time.
