From slightly overweight to gorgeously slim, Mariah reveals diet secrets.

“For me, it’s not about a number on a scale,” Mariah proclaims. “It’s not about necessarily even a size. It’s about feeling good and being comfortable in your own skin. Right now, I feel really great. I feel better than I’ve ever felt.”

What Is It?
Mariah Carey has been making news lately due to her new, slim figure. With the help of a diet and nutrition expert, Mariah follows a very strict diet that limits foods cooked in butter. She also has a personal trainer that has helped reshape her arms and given her a sexy physique.

According to media reports, she lost approximately 20 pounds and is in the best shape ever. Her weight loss coincided with the release of her new album E=MC2. While it could very be part publicity, there is no doubt about Mariah’s weight loss. She looks great and is telling everyone how wonderful she feels after she lost weight.

Types Of Food
Mariah’s diet and nutrition expert eliminated all butter from her diet which immediately helped in cutting her body fat. Foods were prepared in extremely small amounts of olive oil.

Mariah consumed between 1,000 - 1,500 calories per day. No snacks are allowed and meals are small. Mariah believes that ¾ of her weight loss was attributable to changes in her diet while the other ¼ was due to exercise.

According to US Weekly, Mariah also was required to drink at least 3 liters of water per day. Here is a sample menu plan from Mariah’s diet:

Breakfast
- Non-fat plain yogurt
- Sliced fruit
- Water

Lunch
- Grilled zucchini and squash
- Fresh spinach
- Grilled chicken seasoned with salt, pepper and parsley

Dinner
- Whole grain rice with soy sauce
- Mixed vegetables with olive oil

Snacks
- Mid-morning snack consists of eating six olives
- Mid-afternoon snack consists of baked sweet potato seasoned with salt and pepper

Exercise
Exercising was a key component of Mariah Carey’s weight loss. Mariah worked out with her personal trainer between 2-5 times per week. She also worked out without her trainer on other days. Mariah’s exercise program consisted of 30 minutes of water jogging and dolphin kicks (both inside a pool), 30 minutes of full-body work in the water doing bicycling or kickboxing, and 45 minutes of yoga and pilates.

Cost
If you were to replicate Mariah’s diet and exercise program to the very last detail, the cost would be considerably high. The cost of a full-time nutritionist and personal trainer would easily be in the thousands.

However, there are less expensive ways. If you’re part of a gym, talk to the on-site personal trainer. They usually give one free session and you can pick up tips and tricks. After the meeting, if you don’t want to spend additional money on a personal trainer you can buy a personal training bookwhich will show you effective exercises to slim down and shape yourself a new body.

As for your diet and nutrition, we recommend consulting your physician and asking him for a referral to a qualified nutritionist. The Mariah Carey diet sounds extreme and is not a diet for everyone.

Pros
» If implemented correctly and with appropriate supervision via a full-time nutritionist and personal trainer, it will most likely result in a new, lean figure.
» Exercise program should result in healthier overall lifestyle.
» Eliminates butter, fats, and oils from diet

Cons
» Very expensive
» May not be for everyone

Conclusion
It seems like everyone is amazed at Mariah Carey’s sudden weight loss and her slim, sexy figure. She does look great, there’s no doubt about it. But really there is no secret here. It took a lot of exercise and a lot of changes in her daily diet for her to reach her goal weight. And apparently, it also took a lot of money as she had the luxury of a full-time nutritionists and a personal trainer that designed her a custom exercise program.

If money is no object, a nutritionist and personal trainer will do wonders for most people. For those who don’t want to spend the money but want to see the results, we recommend incorporating some concepts of her diet and exercise into your life. This includes removing fats and oils when you cook, exercising more, drinking lots of water, and watching what you eat.

As always, consult your physician before starting a diet and exercise program.
