The Get Happy Diet

Serotonin otherwise known as the “happy hormone” is what makes us feel happy. A lack of serotonin ofcourse can lead to depression. But how is this important to dieting?

Being happy and having a general sense of well-being can definitely help you in losing more weight. Being happy in general can give you that added boost throughout the day.

Dr. Caroline Longmore, a French paediatrician and natural health expert has created a plan that everyone can follow and increase their levels of serotonin without the use of drugs. Part of her study showed that avoiding sugar in your diet can help. But doesn’t sugar give you a quick boost in serotonin and energy? Yes, it can but it’s not the right way to achieve balance and stability in the long run.

We know that eating food with alot of sugar can lead to health problems such as a blood sugar imbalance and increase fat deposits. So avoid it by picking and eating food that is healthier for you and can help boost your mood!

Some example meals would be:

Breakfast: Porridge with skimmed milk, topped with fresh fruit and nuts.
Lunch: Butterbean, watercress and herb dip, served with vegetable crudites and bread sticks.
Dinner: Sticky chicken with spinach.

Breakfast: Cottage cheese with fresh fruit.
Lunch: Pea and asparagus soup.
Dinner: Marinated tuna with coriander rice.

Breakfast: Smoothie made with berries and bananas (ground almonds/ground oats can be added).
Lunch: Wild rice and turkey salad.
Dinner: Roast spiced cod with mango and lime.
