Dining Out On A Diet
Being on a diet does not mean that you can’t enjoy eating out with friends and family. You’ve already sacrificed so many foods, so why deprive yourself of a fun evening out? With a few tips, your diet won’t go bust just because you veer from your at-home meals.
1. Have an idea in advance what you should be eating for that meal, and try substituting it with something similar at the restaurant.
2. Never skip a meal before going out. This can lead to overindulging in excess calories.
3. Try eating a small salad a half an hour before going out so that you are not overly hungry while waiting for your order once at the restaurant.
4. Don’t finish everything on your plate. Portion control should still stay in tact, and just because the food is in front of you doesn’t mean that you have to eat it.
5. Choose dishes with extra portions of vegetables or ask for a substitute for your rice or potatoes.
6. Order smaller portion entrees or split portions with friends.
7. Start off your meal with a glass of water. Alcohol is very high in calories so watch what your order to drink.
8. Pass on the bread or chips offered
9. If you order a salad, ask for the dressing on the side. One scoop of creamy salad dressing can be 300 calories, so opt to portion it out yourself.
